Other members will assimilate the information and practice it. In addition, other members too are requested to give their names to M.P.Desai for sharing their health secrets. Please do come forward.

·        Congratulations: Our Mr. Thanki was presented Life Achievement Award for  2007  by National Association of Corrosion Engineers International, USA for his meritorious work on Corrosion Science and Technology.

·        Holiday Fun : Mr. Joshi has given a vivid description of his  Cruise to Vancouver from San Jose in California in a group of Indian-American families. Starting from San Jose where they were housed in a large fully furnished house, they drove to San Francisco, and boarded the 1400 passenger, 12 storey- tall luxury ship for the 2 days-2 nights voyage to Vancouver. Allotted top-floor cabins, they had a most enjoyable time in the ship equipped with swimming pool, table tennis hall, auditorium, multi -cuisine restaurants. In Vancouver, Day 1 sightseeing covered Liven Gate Bridge, and a vast luxuriant park with a 7mile long scenic walking trail and a Hanging Bridge. Next day, they sailed along Grins Mountain with snow-covered peaks on one side and the driveway on the other and parking lots in the middle. They rode on a bus next day to Seattle to catch a flight to Oakland, and the home drive to San Jose. It was a most enjoyable and memorable experience, with excellent hospitability and courteous service by the cruise staff, many of whom were of Indian origin.

Health Care: Five must-dos when a loved one is ill:

When a loved one is sick and in hospital:

Don’t be afraid to intervene, when you believe that the treatment being given is not right for your loved one.

Ask questions repeatedly: don’t leave the room or let the doctor leave the room, until you understand what he has just told you.

Remember that you know things about the patient that the doctor doesn’t.

Temper your loved one’s enthusiasm for quick fixes.

Scope out the nurses. It is crucial to befriend the smartest most helpful nurses early on. Nurses will guide you {TOI 23-9-07)

Food for Thought:

When God solves your problems, you have faith in His abilities; when He doesn’t solve our          problems, God has faith in our abilities.

In life, failure is not the end, it is the real beginning. Success is not permanent and failure is not final! So, never stop working after success, and never stop trying after failure!

Laugh a While: A fanatic is one who cannot change his mind and won’t change the subject.
