A WORD ABOUT ROF: ROF has grown over a period of 18 years from membership of 30 to 225, and financial position of Rs. 3,000 to Rs.10 lac plus. All this has been achieved with the efforts of a Core Committee, moral support of other members and special contribution by M/S D.K Gulati, M.D. Sharman, B.K. Agarwal, H.K. Agarwal and R.S. Budhwani. With this corpus fund, we are looking for a “place of our own”, which would help to foster fraternity and friendship.

The Core Committee organizes monthly meetings. Programmes are decided in monthly meetings. Proposer of programme and co-ordinator member of Core Committee, along with other interested members, ensure implementation of the programme.

Mr. D.P. Joshi, Vice President, has expressed his desire to be relieved of his post on personal health grounds. The Core Committee accepted his request and further deliberated and agreed to nominate Mr. M.D. Sharman as Vice President in view of his contribution in various Seminars and undivided loyalty to ROF.

Life membership: It is proposed by Core Committee to increase life membership fee to Rs. 2,000/- with effect from 01-04-2008.

Planning for Retirement: This programme is the brainchild of Mr. D.P. Joshi and Dr. D.B. Bhandari. By now, we have covered about 1,000 employees and officers from various organizations viz. IPCL, GACL, GSFC, ABB,  GIPCL and Sarabhai. Contents of programme are updated from time to time. It is now in a booklet form. At present programme is co-ordinated by President. Other members are requested to join the team and spare time to promote the programme. Names may be given to President.

Holistic Health Awareness Programme for Students: This is another prestigious programme launched by ROF with support from United Way of Baroda. About 900 students in seven schools have already been covered. We have published a booklet on the theme in Gujarati and Hindi and distributed to students. We have also sold the booklets through our programmes, Melas and meetings. The Gujarati version is already reprinted and we propose to reprint the Hindi version as well. It is proposed to vigorously pursue this project in 2008. Interested members who can spare time to promote the programme in schools through contacts or otherwise and also contribute to the contents of the booklet may give their names in May meeting. We are also writing to Trustees of various groups/organizations to patronize this programme. From now onwards, we are not going to receive any grant from United Way of Baroda for this programme.

Donation by Mrs. Asha Desai:  Mrs. Asha Desai, wife of late Mr. J.G. Desai, has donated Rs. 10,000 to ROF for instituting a scholarship in memory of her husband to be given to the highest scorer of marks in Mathematics in Commerce stream of Class XI/XII. The matter was discussed in the monthly meeting held on 04-04-2008. It was agreed that Rs.10, 000 should be invested as Fixed Deposit to generate Rs.900 as yearly interest and to give a monthly scholarship of Rs.100 to the Topper, the shortfall of Rs.300 being met by ROF. The modality of same would be discussed later and finalized.

75th birth anniversary of Mrs. Kasturi Mainthia: As she is due to proceed to USA for six months during which period her 75th birth anniversary falls, the same was celebrated in advance by ROF in April meeting. She distributed sweets to all members present and she was presented with an audio -cassette of Gayatri Mantra by ROF along with best wishes and greetings.

Compilation of “Nuggets”: Mr. M.P. Desai who has been compiling our monthly newsletter “Nuggets” for the last many months, has proceeded to USA for a few months. However, he has agreed to continue compiling the same from USA, with a little local help from Wg.Cdr. K Ravindran. Our heartfelt thanks are due to him for maintaining the continuity.

A special request to all members:

  1. Please sign the attendance register as you enter the monthly meeting venue. This would facilitate in arrangement of snacks/dinner for all those present.

HEALTH FACTS:
