FACTOIDS:

Emus and kangaroos cannot walk backwards.

Cats have over one hundred vocal sounds, while dogs only have about ten.

Porcupines float in water.

An ostrich’s eye is bigger than its brain.

HEALTH FACTS: According to recent studies, pumpkin flour contains resistance starch to produce prepionic acid, which causes the starch to remain indigestible, thus fermenting the bacteria and weakening the cancer cells. Pumpkin also has high fiber content, natural colour suitable for bread or noodles and contain vitamin A anti- oxidant and minerals.

Pomegranates reduce risk of heart disease and prevent prostate cancer. A quarter litre glass of the fruit’s juice daily, also significantly slows down prostate cancer growth.

Gardening is one of the best exercises for maintaining healthy bones

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Invite Happiness into your Daily Life:

Just for today, I will let go of anger

Just for today, I will let go worry,

Just for today, I will live an attitude of gratitude,

Just for today, I will do my work honestly,

Just for today, I will love and be kind to all living beings. Precepts inscribed on Memorial of Mikao Usui, founder of Reiki:

SELF- AWARENESS MAKES US A UNIQUE SPECIES

What precisely, if anything, sets us apart from other living creatures? Is it the faculty of reasoning, that we are rational? But reasoning does not and cannot teach us anything new. Both deductive and inductive logic give as conclusion, what is implicit in the premises. The mind grasps reality by establishing relationships between entities that it perceives newly and perceptions it carries from the past. Thus the human mind is basically anchored in the past. It pulls you back from letting yourself go completely with the flow of living reality here and now.

The distinguishing feature of humans lies in our capacity for self-awareness. Other living creatures may have the ability to perform a great variety of tasks or have developed superior sensibilities in certain areas. But we alone have the capacity to look at ourselves and be aware of ourselves. We can attain knowledge. But what is unique about us is that we can also get to know how we could attain that knowledge. A human mind is like a computer that can see how it has been programmed and thereby transcend the programming itself.

PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

We cannot be happy if we expect to live all the time at the highest peak of intensity. Happiness is not a matter of intensity, but of balance and order and rhythm and harmony: Thomas Merton  I DID NOT PUT MY FULL WEIGHT DOWN.”

I was reading about a certain man named Dudley: To celebrate uncle Dudley's 75th birthday, an aviation enthusiast offered to take him for a plane ride over the little West Virginia town where he had spent all his life. Uncle Dudley accepted the offer.

Back on ground, after circling over the town 20 minutes, he was asked: “Were you scared, uncle Dudley?” “No” was the hesitant answer, “but I never did put my full weight down”.

In an airplane, whether you put your full weight down or not, the weight is carried by the plane. Whether you know yourself or not is not the point. Knowledge is disturbing you. Just think: if there were a rock also in that plane along with uncle Dudley, the rock would have put the whole weight down. Uncle Dudley is unnecessarily worried. He could have rested, he could have relaxed just like the rock, but the rock had no knowledge and uncle Dudley has knowledge

 Forget about knowledge: just be yourself. [Osho]. {Contributed by J.K. Popli}
